With an extensive background spanning over 30 years, Mr. Peter Reid is a recognized authority in the Communications, Utilities and Energy industries.
With Mr. Reid’s guidance, several mission critical projects were delivered through solid industry experience, good project governance, strategic sourcing and contractual management, and skillful project execution.
Mr. Reid’s involvement with the utility industry has included the audit of Gas SCADA systems for Energy Safe Victoria, project management of a joint (gas, water and electricity) utilities automatic metering reading trial; management of the design, manufacture and supply of remote metering communications modules to electricity utilities; and the accreditation of a meter service provider with NEMMCO. Mr. Reid has also managed and provided the technical input into the design, develop and prototyping of a software based control system for the aerospace industry, involving a full system safety analysis using functional hazard assessment and fault tree analysis.
As a professional engineer with noteworthy assignments in the Communications industry, Mr. Reid has provided technical advice to several organizations on their terrestrial and wireless communications needs. This includes mobile data networks, digital mobile phone system (GSM), mobile radio systems, satellite, analogue mobile phone system and paging systems. Mr. Reid has also provided high value guidance and advice to organizations such as Metropolitan Ambulance Service Victoria, Ballarat Community Enterprise, Barwon Water, Land Victoria GPSnet, Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority, Oztrak Group and Natural Resources and Environment, Victoria.
Mr. Reid holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Communications) from RMIT and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Ballarat. Mr. Reid is a Charter Professional Engineer, a Registered APEC Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia and a Member of IEEE and IEE and is currently the Chair of the Standards Australia Committee EL-050 Power System Control and Communication and was Chair of Committee TE/18 Customer Metering and Service Interfaces.
