Proactive Steps Needed To Boost Employee Commitment
Manila, Philippines - October 22, 2008

ACCORDING to IT Talent Development studies conducted by XMG since 2005, organizational initiatives that include employee input from the outset have a greater chance of being successful than those that do not.

However, the majority of organizations surveyed indicate they do not include employee input in developing programs aimed at employees such as compensation, rewards and benefits.

The task of deciding and designing these types of employee programs are primarily left to HR managers and most often, in a highly confidential manner.

With the average staff attrition of ICT (information communications technology) professionals (IT, Call Center and BPO combined) on the rise at 45% in the Philippines, XMG believes that the use of proactive mechanisms to obtain input from employees will encourage employee

involvement and contribution in achieving individual, team and organizational objectives and in turn, employee retention and business success.

According to XMG Chief Analyst Lauro Vives, “Employee feedback and participation significantly improve employee retention and organizational success, as opposed to relying on more reactive processes such as exit interviews”.

Furthermore, the study mention that the strategy of implementing proactive mechanisms is a critical component of organizational culture which does more to enable successful employees, and thus to the bottom line, more than any other factor.

XMG Researcher Kathrina Lim further comments, “Organizations must strive to incorporate opportunities for employee involvement wherever possible since active participatory environments at all levels are directly linked to improved business results”.
